Covid-19 Policy and FAQs
NuWave School of Hair Design’s COVID-19 Vaccination Policy Statement
If you are attending classes at NuWave School of Hair Design’s Campus located at 1526 Victoria Avenue East, you are required to complete the following steps in conjunction with the daily online covid-19 school screening test.*
On August 31st, 2021, the Ministry of Colleges and Universities released the Post-secondary Education Health Measures Framework for Fall 2021. Included in this framework were requirements for post-secondary institutions to have a COVID-19 vaccination policy in place by September 7th, 2021, including requirements for providing proof of vaccination, exceptions, testing and an education program.
NuWave School of Hair Design is announcing the vaccine requirement that complies with the Ministry’s framework. Beginning September 7th, 2021, all employees, students, contractors and volunteers attending the NuWave School Campus will be required to confirm that they have been fully vaccinated with a Health Canada approved vaccine before entering the facility.
Our top priority is your health and safety. The measures described in this policy statement provide protection in addition to the measures already implemented by the College. Please note that regardless of your vaccination status, all requirements related to mandatory daily health screening, physical distancing and PPE (masks, face shields, etc.) remain in place for anyone attending NuWave.
NuWave reserves the right to update this policy statement as changes in public health recommendations, regulations and laws occur.
Scope: This policy statement applies to all students, employees and volunteers accessing NuWave School of Hair Design. This policy statement will remain in place throughout the 2021-2022 academic year. Existing disciplinary measures may apply to those who do not follow this policy statement.
Proof of Vaccination: Proof of vaccination will not be processed upon arrival. This MUST be done before you come to campus. Allow a minimum of 48 hours to process submissions. You only need to provide proof of vaccination once.
“Fully vaccinated” means having received the dosage of one or more vaccines plus 14 days that provides full-protection in accordance with Ontario public health or Health Canada guidance.
Exemptions: The Ministry of Colleges and Universities Postsecondary Education Health Measures Framework for Fall 2021 allows for limited exemptions to the vaccination requirements.
*Exemptions applications will not be processed upon arrival to enter the campus. This MUST be done before you come to campus. Allow a minimum of 2 days to process submissions. You only need to apply for an exemption once.*
Medical Exemptions: Individuals without proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 can provide written proof of a medical reason, provided by a physician or registered nurse in the extended class that sets out:
-
A documented medical reason for not being fully vaccinated against COVID-19; and,
-
The effective time-period for the medical reason.
Individuals with a medical reason for not being fully vaccinated and who have provided proof of a medical reason, are allowed on campus but are required to submit to regular antigen point of care testing for COVID-19, through an external service provider, and to provide verification of the negative test result once every seven days. The costs of external tests will not be covered by the college. Please note, test results other than those mentioned will not be accepted. Please email info@nuwaveschool.com to request an exemption for medical reasons.
Rapid Antigen Testing: Any individual who is not confirmed as fully vaccinated must complete Rapid Antigen Testing once every seven days. This would include those who are partially vaccinated or have registered and/or been accepted for an exemption.
Collection, Documentation and Reporting: The information you provide will be verified by a qualified member of the college’s Health and Wellness team. Your personal information is secure and will be handled in accordance with privacy regulations. No personal medical information will be kept on file, and all medical records will be permanently deleted once our status has been confirmed.
